Having lost all hope in the world, she dies—only to awaken next in modern-day Japan! “When was the last time I ate meat?” “I always dreamed of eating a whole egg someday…” The saint who once longed for such humble luxuries is now thrust into one of the most food-obsessed nations in the world — Japan, the land of culinary delight and abundance. Reduced to the body of a small child and unable to fend for herself, Asha is found and taken in by a university student named Zen’ichi. Moved to tears by a simple bowl of rice porridge, trembling with joy over moon-viewing udon, and marveling at Japan’s uniquely evolved culture — from bathrooms to toilets — Asha begins her second life filled with warmth and wonder. Meanwhile, Zen’ichi, an inexperienced caretaker burdened with his own dark past and a dangerous family duty in a superstition-ridden village, slowly finds himself healed by the little girl he rescued — who just so happens to be an (almost) all-powerful saint.
